Netaji Jayanti 2016

Netaji Jayanti was celebrated on 23 January, 2016 at the Association.

Vivekananda Jayanti 2016

Our Association celebrated Swami Vivekananda's 153rd birth anniversary on 12 January, 2016. Members remembered the teacher and great social reformer through songs and by rendering talks.

Poush Parbon-2016

The Association organised Poush Parbon (Pithe Puli Utsav) at the Association on 15 January, 2016. The response was very encouraging and all food items got over in an hour. 

Annual Picnic-2016

On January 10, 2016, The Bengalee Association organised a picnic next to a lake (Niligudde kere) near Bidadi. Around 115 people participated and enjoyed the fun and frolic at the picnic.

Durga Puja 2015

Sri Sri Durga Puja

We celebrated Sri Sri Durga Puja from 18 October, 2015 (Sunday) till 23 October 2015, (Friday), at the RBANM school ground, Bangalore, near Commercial Street. This was our 66th year of Durga Puja, not just the largest in Bangalore but one of the top five in India. During the four main Puja days we had around 25,000 visitors every day. We had two separate pandals for Durga and cultural events. There were also many food and exhibition stalls at the Puja venue.

Bangla Mela 2015

Bangla Mela, an annual fest of Bengal products (food items, garments, sarees, Jewellery, Handicrafts,etc), was organised on 5th and 6th of September 2015. The Mela was a huge success as nearly 30 stalls participated and around 2000 people visited the event.

Blood Donation 2015

The Bengalee Association organised blood donation camp at the Association auditorium on 7 June, 2015, in collaboration with the Karnataka Red Cross Blood Bank. The event was a big success as nearly 60 people donated blood to save life. 

Nazrul-Jayanti 2015

Our Association celebrated vidhrohi kobi Kazi Nazrul Islam's birth anniversary on 24 & 25 May, 2015 at the Association auditorium through songs, dances and recitations performed by our members.

The Association celebrated Kabi Guru Rabindranath Tagore’s 153 rd birth anniversary by organizing a morning, open-air cultural event ‘Kobi Pranam’ at Rabindra Kalakshetra (near Town Hall) from 8 AM on 10th May'2015

Matri Bhasha Dibas

February 21, 2015:

The Matri Bhasha Dibas (language day) was organized by our library committee. Our member participants read out their compositions at the evening function.

Annual Picnic

February 1, 2015:

We organised the popular Annual Picnic beside a lake on the outskirt of Bangalore. The picnic was a great success with lots of fun & frolic as a large number of members along with their family members and friends participated in the games and programmes arranged on that day.

Republic Day

January 26, 2015:

To pay our respect to Indian Republic we hoisted the national flag in the morning at the Association. In the evening, we had a cultural program remembering two great sons of our nation: Sri Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Saraswati Puja

January 25, 2015:

We celebrated Saraswati Puja at the Association auditorium with Pushpanjali, Haathe Khori and Community Feast. A large number of students, children and members joined the celebration of worshipping the goddess of learning.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Birth Day

January 23, 2015:

We garlanded Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s potrait to celebrate his 118 th birth anniversary at the Association auditorium.

Poush Parbon

January 17, 2015:

Poush Parbon (Pithe Puli mela) was organized by the Ladies Wing of The Bengalee Association to celebrate Poush Sankrati at the Association auditorium.

Vivekananda’s Birth Day

January 12, 2015:

We garlanded Sri Swami Vivekananda’s potrait to celebrate his 152 nd birth anniversary at the Association auditorium.

Karnataka Rajyotsabha

November 29, 2014:

We celebrated Karnataka Rajyotsabha Day at the Association auditorium. Children of Child Foundation Trust participated along with our members in our evening cultural event. Well-wishers gifted blankets to the participating children on behalf of the Association.

Kali Puja 2014

October 23, 2014:

Sri Sri kali Puja was celebrated at the Association hall. A huge crowd joined us to participate in the puja and to enjoy the community feast that went on almost until midnight.

Durga Puja 2014: 30 September to 4 October 2014, at RBANMS ground.

Durga Puja for the year 2014 was celebrated with grand success at RBANKS ground, near Ulsoor Lake. Nearly 15,000 people visited our pandal on each day of the Puja. We served free bhog Prasad to nearly 10,000 people. Every evening we had organised cultural programmes with artists from Bombay and Kolkata. We had also organised ‘Dhunuchi Naach’ on Mahaasthami night and ‘Dandiya’ on Mahanabami night. People thronged to the food court where we had 47 food stalls serving best of the North Indian and East Indian dishes.

Bangla Mela: 23 & 24 August, 2014 at Bengalee Association

Bangla Mela or Bengal Santhe was organised at the Association (near Ulsoor Lake) on 23 & 24 August, 2014. Artefacts from rural artisans of West Bengal (like Pata Chitra, Krishna Nagarer matir putul, mukhos, etc), Bengali books, jewellery, garments, saree etc were exhibited and sold at the mela. People could also buy food item brought from West Bengal normally not available in Bangalore. The Mela was a big success with more than 1000 people visiting in two days.

Nazrul Jayanti Celebration: 25 May, 2014 at The Bengalee Association

We celebrated Kazi Nazrul Islamls 115 th birth anniversary at The Bengalee Association cultural hall. Nazrul, poet, short-story writer, song composer, novelist, playwright and essayist, was one of the most versatile litterateurs in Bengali language.

Rabindra Jayanti celebration: 11 May, 2014 at Rabindra Kalakshetra

Gurudeb Rabindra Nath Tagore’s 154 th birthday was celebrated at Rabindra Kalakshetra on 11 May, 2014. Around 400 Tagore enthusiasts from all over Bangalore attended the celebration and nearly 100 participated in the six-hour long event of songs, dances and recitations. A Bengali calendar on Tagore was brought out on this occasion.
